Alauddin Sabir Kalyari was born in the house of Jamila Khatun and Syed Abul Rahim in 1196 19 Rabi al-awwal, 592 Hijri at Kohtwaal, Multan. He was the South Asian Sufi saint and the disciple of Hazrat Fariduddin Ganjshakar the great saint of chishty order. He died in Kaliyar Sharif in 1291 13th Rabi al-awwal 690 Hijri. He was known for his preaching for love, sacrifice and the true name of Allah.
His mother took him to Pakpattan to his brother Baba Farid for his education. After 10 years Baba Farid called him and found him very weak. He asked Alauddin the reason of his ill health. He replied it is true that he was made in charge of the langar but was never told to eat so he himself used to go to jungle daily and ate whatever he found. For his patience Baba gave him the title of Sabir.
